I have quite a history of robot vacuums. I've had 8 robot vacuums (6 of which were also moppers) from 3 different brands. I've seen the improvement in performance in them across the board as time has gone on.The ability to pick up dirt improves, the ability to mop clean improves, the mapping and object avoidance improves. They might not all improve at the same time but the general trajectory over the various generations of products has been upward. And with that I can say this - while also the most expensive one I've ever had - is also by far the best I've had. It is a LOT of money (AUD2700 currently) but for that I'm getting the best vacuum, the best mopping (BY FAR) and really good mapping and object avoidance. It's actually better than my previous best - also by Ecovacs (T50 Max Pro Omni) - in every regard. In particular the jump from spinning mop pads to the rotating long mop is almost as big a jump in performance as that from the dragged or vibrated piece of mop was to the spinning pads.Right now, I have 3 different devices in the house that are in use. This, and 2 other Ecovacs (the forementioned T50 Max Pro and a T30S Combo) and so I've seen how the generational improvement is. I'm not kidding. Each one is notably better than the last.Ok. Let's get specific. The mopping has actually picked up some marks on the floor that no other robot was able to get rid of. I actually thought I was going to need to use a steam mop to get rid of them, but I noticed after this had done a couple of cleans that most of the marks were gone. These are marks that nothing else (not my robots or my upright roller mop) was getting rid of. Yes, I'll still need the steam mop but about 2/3 of the marks are gone. I'm not even sure if another use on the floor might get rid of the rest.I think that the fact the roller mop slides out means that it is as good as the T50 in terms of getting to the edge of the wall but not better. It's not quite the super-duper panacea of right to the floorboard cleaning BUT it is really good and good enough for most things because usually its dust you'll have right there, and the side brush deals with that easily. The actual vacuuming is top tier stuff as you'd expect. It is better than my T50 because of one reason: no not the amount picked up - it seems on par for that which was already superb - but the noise level. Someone else in my house commented to me that unlike every other robovac/mop I've had they could sit in their study watching a movie with the X11 roaming around their legs and not have to turn up the volume. It's not silent at all but the noise level is completely acceptable. If you're coming from a non-robot vacuum boy, are you going to be shocked at how quiet they are compared to a barrel or stick vacuum!Mapping is also good, but it feels like the big players have got mapping fully sorted now in their mid and top tier models and have for a couple of years at least. You just hit the "map your house" button in the app and it then goes off to do it. Hah, though the X11 tells you - I'm not making this up - the mapping will take between 5 and 15 minutes for most houses and "don't follow (it) around. It'll come back when it's done." Jeez. I'm being put in my place by a vacuum...The one area I think is the big differentiator these days between cleaners and the one with the most room for improvement still is object avoidance. This is definitely the best I've had, and it certainly hasn't got stuck on anything in the time I've used it but neither did my T50. The T30 before that and others I've had from other large and small brands, still did get caught up in things. I had to rescue my T30 from some cables by a bed, this last weekend. That does not seem like it will ever be a problem with the X11.Let me give one little negative with this which looks like a tiny design flaw maybe and just as a cautionary note for anyone using it. The cleaner reservoir (the main one, not the heavy duty one) has a fill line on it and I did fill it up to that point but then found I was getting leakage immediately. Easy fix. I just emptied some from the reservoir to just below the fill line, and the problem went away. But Ecovacs, you might want to rethink either the container/seal structure or lower that fill line a bit. That's the only negative I have about this, and it absolutely vanishes into insignificance compared to all the positives. From all my robot cleaners: it's the best vacuum I've had, it's the best mopper I've had, it has the best mapping and object avoidance and it's the quietest. Oh and I should mention it seems to go for ages! Again, there appears to be a generational improvement in cleaning duration between charges.I'll only reference the other Ecovacs I've had but T30 to T50 to X11, it is lasting longer and longer, and that thing they tout for this where it will grab some power while cleaning the mop is true. It certainly does add more power quickly (a handful of %) which just absolutely helps with a...

When you think how can they make robot vacuum better well try this Ecovac.Straight out of the box this is easy to put together. The app is easy to follow to set the vacuum up and it’s super user friendly and suitable for older people. The style is modern and it blends in with your furniture. The vacuum works amazing, I had an older model to this and I can say they have come a long way from previous models. The things that amazed me were how the roller extends outwards to reach corners and sides of the walls whereas my old one would miss spots. The mop cleaning feature is great and I definitely notice the mop is clean when it washes the floors.

Been using the Ecovacs Deebot x11 Pro for a bit over two weeks now. This review is gonna be long because I want to include as much information as possible since this is a big investment. I'll be addressing the following: the app, object avoidance, height recognition, vacuum, mop, dock station, maintenance, battery. Skip to the bottom if you want my TLDR.• App: 4/5There is a decent amount of versatility and customisation available in the app. You have three cleaning options: vacuum only, simultaneously vacuum and mop, vacuum and then mop. You can set the order of the areas you want the robot to clean first every time, which I've found really nifty because I like my bathroom cleanedYou can program specific "scenarios", and manually pick which areas you want the robot to clean and how you want it to clean in those areas. e.g. My most used scenario has the robot thoroughly vacuum my kitchen, mop it, then go to the bathroom and lightly vacuum and mop there, then go home to charge.I prefer not to use the schedule feature as I’m not yet at the point I’m comfortable leaving the robot to work with zero supervision, but I have tested the setting to see if it works. I set the robot to run at 9am. Pretty much on the dot, the robot did turn on, and performed the cleaning scenario I chose ahead of time.My only criticism is the app is clunky to use and not particularly intuitive. I've had to search up online and to visit forums several times to figure out if the app can do something because the app doesn't make it easy to figure out (e.g. It was really difficult to figure out how to turn down the volume on the robot's voice notifications).• Object avoidance: 1/5Note: You will need to prepare your floors prior to using the robot. Mostly this includes ensuring there's nothing left on the floor that the robot could damage. While the robot does have a built-in light to help it see in dark spaces, the robot does work better with adequate overhead lighting. 7Even with the high sensitive setting on, the robot will bump into walls and furniture. Sometimes lightly, sometimes with a lot of insistence. A few times, I found the robot insistently trying to mount my door’s built-in door stopper, resulting in the door stopper being damaged. I now have that section of the house marked as a do-not-clean zone to prevent this happening. The robot bumps into my skirting walls often and will regularly run head-on into the legs of furniture. I have a brown wooden chair and an ottoman with gold legs it refuses to recognise as an obstacle. I have white dining chairs it DOES successfully recognise as obstacles, and manages to clean around them without any bumping whatsoever. The robot is particularly bad at recognising black objects/furniture. My fridge is black and the robot’s sensors do not recognise it as an obstacle (it tries to go inside the fridge door). It was quite aggressively banging into the black legs of my office chair and a black steel plant stand, so I’ve had to stick some foam strips on them to minimise damage to the robot’s bumper.I have tested being “in the way” as it cleans, and it’s hit or miss whether it bumps into me or not. Sometimes I'll be at the kitchen sink and it'll bump into me several times before trying to go around me. To reiterate, I have it set to high sensitivity, which the app recommends for people with kids or pets. Doesn't seem to make a difference whether this setting is on or off.• Height recognition: 3/5The robot doesn’t always understand its own height. It often tries to go under furniture that’s a tad too short for it to fit under. I have a shoe rack it desperately tries to wiggle under, and the scraping sounds are horrific (it sounds like the robot screaming). I now block off entry with a box when cleaning that area so it can’t get under there. There are other robot vacuums on the market with a sensor on the top which does a better job of ensuring the robot doesn’t enter spaces it can’t fit. It’s not a huge dealbreaker for me as I’m alright manually blocking off short areas but if this is inconvenient for you, I recommend looking into robots with an additional sensor on top.• Vacuuming: 4/5It does a fairly decent job vacuuming. The roller brush is designed in such a way that hairs can't get tangled in the brush nor around the edges. I have short hair, but I have a family member with incredibly long hair and they're over often enough long hairs end up on the floor. Haven't had a single hair caught in the roller so far, which is more than I can say for my upright cordless vacuum. The robot moves in vertical back and forth lines from one side of the area to the other. You can set how tightly you want it to vacuum in this path. I use the deep clean setting every time because I want it reduce the amount of hair and dust it may miss otherwise. If you set it to do a double pass (2x vacuum) it will do the second round in a horizontal pattern (see my photo of the map to get an idea of what I mean. I had it vacuum...
